Projects

The organization and its management team, among others, have conducted following major projects either independently, as a part of other civil society organizations or in partnership with other organizations, involving local, national and international organizations and partners:

  • Literacy movement in Tehsil Kotli sattian where we established 25 centers for female adult literacy. We mobilize community, identify teachers, train them and appoint. After that we monitor the whole activity.
  • World Health Organization’s International training Workshop on “Promoting Rational Drug use”(PRDU) MAY-JUNE 2004, first ever course conducted by non-governmental organizations with participants from ten countries. The course was rated among one of the best-organized PRDU courses by International faculty of the course. Member of the Umeed-e-Nao management team took lead in arrangements, setting-up and operating workshop secretariat of the course which was conducted at two different location in Pakistan. The participants were facilitated for field tours, course materials, communications, travel arrangements etc. by the workshop secretariat.
  • Journalist training on “Human Rights” in five cities of Pakistan, followed by a National workshop in 2004 to improve coverage of Human rights violation in print and electronic media, funded by British High Commission, Pakistan. 150 young journalists from local print and electronic media were trained during program, the training program also included analysis of newspaper, development of training manual, follow up with and feed back to trained participants.
  • First training workshop in Pakistan on “Health Technology Assessment”(11-14 Feb,2004,Bhurban) in partnership with Ministry of Health, health professionals and prominent civil society organizations working in health sector, funded by WHO.

 

  • Consultative workshop for JICA(Japan Inter cooperative Agency)with community based organizations,local government representative,residents and effected communities on “Social and Environment Impact of Nullah Leh improvement and flood Mitigation’(October 2002 Rawalpindi)
  • Managed Flood Relief activities during the 2001severe floods in Rawalpindi in Partnership with other civil society organizations.
  • 6th tripartite International seminar on “21st century,workers and labor movement” in Nov,1999 funded by FES Germany.
  • As a Partner community organization of SWEEP (Solid Waste management and Environment Enhancement Priject) by UNDP from 1996 to 2001, Umeed-e-Nao carried out activities including community mobilization, data collection, community surveys, establish community organization, training of community group in the areas Rawalpindi.
  • Conducted training for female candidates for councilors seats for the local government election in different wards of Rawalpindi in 2002.
